Design
Ford made no compromises when creating a perfectly functional truck in a scaled-down footprint. The lineup offers crew cabs with four full-sized doors and 4.5-foot beds. The cabs comfortably seat five people, with both front bucket seats providing manual lumbar support in addition to directional control, six ways for the driver and four for the front passenger.
The interior is well-laid out and very practical, with plenty of storage, including large bins under the rear seats. The tilting, telescoping steering wheel has convenient audio and cruise controls.
Performance
The standard engine throughout the line is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with speedy acceleration providing 250 hp and 277 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Department of Energy estimates its fuel economy at 23 mpg on city streets and 30 mpg on highways.
The 2024 Maverick’s unibody construction is borrowed from Ford’s well-received Bronco Sport SUV. It gives the Maverick a smoother ride than traditionally built trucks. However, don’t let the smaller scale fool you: the Maverick easily holds its own as a truck. It can tow up to 4,000 pounds and haul a maximum of 1,500 pounds of payload.
Technology
An 8.0-inch touchscreen provides the interface for the Maverick’s infotainment system. All models include Bluetooth, plus standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, so you’ll have access to all your favorite apps and content on the road.
Safety
Ford supplies the Maverick line with a variety of standard and optional safety features. Even the base XL model has advanced standard driver’s aid technology, such as a rearview camera and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. More may be added from available features, including:
